11-18-22   THOUGHTS

The treasures of wisdom and knowledge are ours!   It is called WEALTH!  Knowing God fully in Christ Jesus is our key.  Our EFFORTS to know God are vital to the FACT OF OUR KNOWING!  Verse 8 speaks a loud caution.  Our being “taken captive”  can happen in many ways.  A laziness in our searching is deadly.  Searching in wrong places is also a big problem.  It demands a disciplined desire to learn.  Remember that God is the subject!  Remember that we are talking about TREASURES!  Consider the idea of FULLNESS.  What joys await us.

Col 2:1-9    For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on your behalf and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face,  2  that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself,  3  in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4  I say this so that no one will delude you with persuasive argument.  5  For even though I am absent in body, nevertheless I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good discipline and the stability of your faith in Christ. 6  Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7  having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.  8  See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. 9  For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,
John 1:14    And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Col 1:19    For it was the [Father’s] good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him,

My Prayer:
Father, sustain in us an intense desire to partake of your fullness.  Give us your Spirit,  and help us draw nearer and nearer  to you each day.  May we walk in Jesus.   May we be firmly rooted in  Jesus and established in our faith.  Build us up in your word.  May we always see the joy of your salvation.
In the name of the One who saves us,       Amen,
Pray for Heather & Bob.
